Constable, daughter die in Dhaka road crash

A police constable and his daughter died after a bus hit them in Demra area in Dhaka this evening.

A bus hit the police constable Arifuzzaman, 40, and his daughter Sumaiya when they were walking beside a road in Della area of Demra around 6:00pm. The bus hit them while overtaking another bus, police said quoting witnesses.

Sumaiya died on the spot. However, locals took Arifuzzaman to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctors declared him dead, Sub-Inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police camp, told The Daily Star.

Arifuzzaman was posted in Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) Court in Dhaka.
