Huseni Dalan culprits will be identified through footage: Kamal

Echoing the voice of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner that Huseni Dalan attack was pre-planned, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today expressed hopes that the attackers will soon be identified through video footage.

“We have video footage of the attack. The culprits will be identified soon,” the home minister was quoted by Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

“Instruction was given not to bring out any procession at night. However, processions were brought out at night defying the order. Detectives and law enforcers are working to find out the culprits responsible for the attack.”

The minister also informed that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has given all necessary directives to the Police Headquarters.

A child was killed and about 87 others were injured in the bomb explosions around 1:30am when members of Shia community were gathering there hours before the traditional Tajia procession to mark the holy Ashura.

After visiting the spot around 6:00am, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told reporters, “Primarily, it seems to be a planned attack.”
