A Dhaka court today placed drivers of two buses of BRTC and Sajan Paribahan on a two-day remand in connection with an incident in which Rajib Hossain lost one of his hands after he got stuck between the two speeding buses.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud passed the order after Sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station Aftab Ali produced BRTC bus driver Wahid Ali, 35, and Sajan Paribahan Khorshed, 50, seeking three-day remand for each.

Wahid and Khorshed were arrested from different areas of Dhaka following the accident.

Rajib, a third-year student of Government Titumir College, lost the hand after it got stuck between two speeding buses trying to overtake each other in the capital's Bangla Motor area on Tuesday.

Soon after the accident, he was taken to Samorita Hospital in Panthapath and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Rajib, who lost his parents around eight years ago, bore his educational expenses by working at a computer shop in Dholaipar of the city.

The High Court has already asked the bus owners to bear all the treatment cost of Rajib.
