Dhaka International Trade Fair will be moved to Purbachal, most probably in three years.

The planned permanent exhibition centre in Purbachal new town, at a cost of Tk 1,303 crore was endorsed by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) today.

Junior Planning Minister MA Mannan told reporters after the briefing that the exhibition centre will be hosting the international trade fairs soon after it is completed.

The revised project titled China-Bangladesh exhibition centre is expected to be complete by 2020 and is likely to host trade shows instead of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar from 2021.

The project was expanded after Beijing Institute of Architectural Design prepared a second design which necessitated the use of more land and new components.
