2,280 yaba pills recovered from man’s stomach at Dhaka airport

Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) has detained one person with 2,280 yaba pills hidden inside his stomach at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

According to police, detainee Md Shakil Mia, 25, during primary interrogation said that he collected the yaba tablets from one Abir in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

He received money from one Parvez for this, said Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent of Airport Armed Police Battalion.

The yaba tablets are worth about Tk 11 lakh, he said.

AAPBn officials detained Shakil from the domestic terminal premises on suspicion after he landed in Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar around 6:00pm yesterday, he added.

He confessed carrying yaba pills in his stomach after being detained, the official said.

A case has been filed under Narcotics Control Act with Airport Police Station.
