A mobile court has sentenced a Manikganj homeopath to six months in jail for claiming to have a cure for coronavirus (COVID-19) and trying to market the products.

Sultan Uddin, owner of Professor Homeo located in Jabra Bazar of the district's Gheor upazila, was distributing leaflets on Friday, asking people not to panic as a "homeopathy cure" was available.

After getting information through Facebook messages, Gheor Upazila Nirbahi Officer Irene Akhter detained the man along with a number of leaflets and sentenced him to six-month imprisonment, our local correspondent reports quoting the UNO.

Irene said the man was engaged in false advertising as no cure has been found for the COVID-19 yet.
