2 killed in Narsingdi road crash

Two people were killed and five others injured as a microbus rammed a truck on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi early today.

The deceased were identified as the microbus supervisor Abdul Malek, 45, and passenger Alauddin, 20, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

The injured passengers are Masud Hossain, 45, Sumon, 35, Ataur Rahman, 40, his wife Rahima, 34, and daughter, Samia, 9, police said.

The accident took place at Gangpar area this morning when the Sylhet-bound microbus from Dhaka, carrying seven people, dashed a stationary truck from behind, killing the two on the spot and injuring five others, said Sub-Inspector Arjun Chandra Biswas of Itakhola highway police camp.

The injured were taken to Narsingdi General Hospital.

The microbus driver, however, managed to flee the scene, the SI added.
