4-kid murder: Body formed to see cop’s negligence

Habiganj police today formed a committee to investigate whether the officer-in-charge of Bahubal Police Station was neglectful towards his duties over the murder of four children there.

The three-member committee was asked to submit a report by the next five working days, Additional SP Shahidul Islam, who is the head of the body, told our Moulvibazar correspondent.

Meanwhile, a court in Habiganj today placed two accused on remand each over the murders.

Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Kowshik Ahmed Khandokar placed Arzu Miah on seven day remand and Bashir Ahmed for five days.

Muktadir Hosain, a sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) and the investigation officer of the case, produced the duo and prayed for 10-day remand for each, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports.

The bodies of four schoolboys who had gone missing from Sundrateki in Bahubal upazila on February 12 were recovered from a ditch at the village after four days.

Including the two placed on remand today, a total of six people have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murders.
