3 JSC examinees “commit suicide” after poor results in Chandpur, Patuakhali

Three schoolgirls today reportedly committed suicide in Chandpur and Patuakhali after failing to achieve good results in the Junior School Certificate examinations this year. 

Two other schoolgirls in Chandpur also “attempted to commit suicide” before they were rescued and admitted to hospital for treatment.

In Chandpur, Farzana Akter, 15, a student of Pir Mohsin Municipality Girls High School in Chandpur Sadar, reportedly committed suicide at her house after her returned from school after getting her poor JSC result, reports our local correspondent quoting Wali Ullah, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Model Police Station.

Ferdousy Akter, 15, a student of UGP High School in Faridganj upazila, “took poison” after she returned home from school getting her poor JSC examination result, the police official said.

She was declared dead by doctors after she was rushed to a hospital, he added.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Chandpur Model Police Station for autopsy, OC Wali Ullah said.

Two other schoolgirls— a resident of Matlab North Farazikandi Charkalia village and another of Bagra Bazar area in Chandpur Sadar—tried to commit suicide for earning poor results in JSC examinations. They are now undergoing treatment, police said.

In Patuakhali, Jannatee, a JSC examinee from Purbo Madhukhali High School, “committed suicide” by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house following poor result, reports our correspondent quoting family members.

Family members later found her dead and buried her at their family graveyard in the evening, Md Shamsul Alam, headmaster of the school, confirmed the matter.
