3 TV journo hurt in Brahmanbaria AL attack

Three television media journalists were injured in an attack today allegedly by Awami League men while covering vote rigging at a polling centre in Brahmanbaria Sadar.

Witnesses said supporters of AL-backed chairman candidate Shahjahan Mia stormed Chunta AC Academy polling centre and started ballot stuffing, reports a correspondent.

At one stage, they swooped on three on duty journalists -- Pijush Kanti Acharya, bureau chief of ATN Bangla, its cameraman Sumon Roy and Jamuna TV’s cameraman Hasan Jabed -- as they moved to cover vote rigging, the victims told The Daily Star.

They were rushed to Sarail upazila health complex.

Voting in the centre was kept suspended for an hour from 9:15am to 10:15am following the incident, said upazila election officer Shaheen Akand.
