48-hr transport strike in Khulna from tomorrow

Transport owners and workers called a 48-hour strike in 10 districts under Khulna division from tomorrow demanding withdrawal of two compensation cases filed against the owners of Chuadanga ‘Deluxe Paribahan’ and ‘Green line Paribahan’.

`Khulna Division Road Transport Owners-Workers’ Unity Council announced the programme at a press briefing at Jessore Press Club this morning.

They demanded immediate withdrawal of the two cases, including the Tk 12 crore compensation case filed against owner and driver of Chuadanga ‘Deluxe Paribahan’ in connection the road crash on Dhaka-Aricha highway on August 13, 2011 that left noted filmmaker Tareque Masud, media personality Mishuk Munier and three other people dead.

Besides, a Tk 7 crore compensation was filed against ‘Green line Paribahan’ over another accident.

Earlier on May 8, transport owners and workers threatened a 48-hour strike in 10 southern districts for May 15 and 16 demanding withdrawal of two cases.
