ACC official’s son ‘commits suicide’ in Gazipur

Police today recovered the body of a youth from his residence in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur after he reportedly committed suicide.

The deceased, Golam Rasul, 25, was the son of Dewan Shafiuddin Ahmed, a deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), reports our Gazipur correspondent.

Rasul’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in their house in Olua village under the upazila, said Monowar Hossain, sub-inspector of Kaliganj Police Station.

Rasul was an honours student and was looking for jobs, his father said, adding that he might have committed suicide out of frustration from being unemployed.

The family of the deceased has appealed to the administration for not conducting autopsy on his body.
