2nd phase Biswa Ijtema underway

The second phase of Biswa Ijtema entered the second day today at Tongi on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The second phase of three-day Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after the hajj, began after Fazr prayers on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mohor Ali, 60, a devotee hailing from Jamalpur, and Shahidullah, 65, hailing from Keraniganj, died at the Ijtema ground early in the morning.

With this, total six devotees died in the two phases of Ijtema.

Thousands of devotees, both from home and abroad, have gathered at the congregation venue, and are taking part in prayers and discussions.

Some 3917 devotees from 78 countries joined the second phase of Ijtema which will end on Sunday with the Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers).

Tabligh Jamaat has been organising the Ijtema at the venue since 1967. But, theIjtema is being held in two phases since 2011 due to accommodation and transportation problem.
