Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have allegedly beat dead two Bangladeshi nationals in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.

The incident took place yesterday evening, reports our Dinajpur correspondent quoting officials of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The victims were identified as Abdul Hakim, 35, son of Sahib Ali, and Mohammad Sharif, 25, son of Golap Hossain from Shibganj upazila.

They strolled into India and were caught by BSF 20th battalion, Lt Col Abu Zafor Sheikh Mohammad Bazlul Haque, commanding officer of 9th BGB battalion, said.

The Bangladeshis were beaten up and their bodies left near Masudpur frontier, he said. Sharif later succumbed at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

The injury marks found on their bodies indicate that they were tortured to death, said the BGB official.

In a 50 minute flag meeting held with the counterpart, BGB protested the killing of the two Bangladeshi citizens but the BSF denied all allegations.

BSF argued that the duo died in confrontation between groups of cattle traders.
