BSF kills Bangladeshi at Johorpur frontier

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi national near Johorpur frontier in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila early today.

The victim was identified as Benjir Hossain, 22, son of Budhu Mia from Shibganj upazila in the district, our local correspondent reports.

Benjir, along with some others, was fired upon by BSF of Chadni Chak camp after midnight, said Lt Col Ahmed Junaid Alam Khan, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 9 battalion in the district.

Injured Banjir managed to reach his home where he succumbed around 3:30am, he said.

Receiving information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. BGB strongly protested the killing and sent a protest note to its Indian counterpart.
