A total of 1,200 new patients infected with mosquito-borne disease dengue were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours.

Among the infected patients, 595 were admitted in hopitals in Dhaka, according to a latest bulletin by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In its latest tally, total number of dengue affected patients are 44,471 among whom 7,547 are currently admitted to hospitals across the country.

Dengue has taken a serious turn this year with official figures showing 40 of the patients losing their lives since January.

DGHS advised people who will come back to their residences after Eid holidays to spray mosquito killers before they enter their houses.

An adult person will first enter the house and conduct the spray and stay outside for 30 minutes, and then enter the house to open all windows and run tap waters and flush toilets, the DGHS said.

If there are no mosquito sprays available then, the adult person will perform the above mentioned instructions and then let other residents enter the house.
