DMP publishes videos of ‘Avijit killers’

Dhaka Metropolitan Police today published five videos of six suspected killers of writer and blogger Avijit Roy.

The video footages were published this afternoon, Abu Yusuf Ali, additional police commissioner of DMP, told The Daily Star.

Unidentified assailants killed writer and blogger Avijit Roy and badly wounded his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya on Dhaka University campus on February 26, 2015, after the couple came out of the Ekushey Boi Mela.

Though law enforcers suspected six people in this connection, they are yet to confirm the identities of the suspects, police said.

DMP also requested individuals to provide information if they can trace the suspected militants.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque today asked all not to carry out any direct or indirect publicity in favour of banned militant outfits in the social media.

The IGP made the call in a press statement expressing his gratitude to the citizens for their spontaneous participation in anti-militant activities in the recent times.

Shahidul Hoque said, some people have been continuing direct or indirect campaign upholding activities of the banned militant organisations in different social media including blogs, and other online platforms though giving their likes, making share and comments.
