Female students of Chittagong University padlocked the gate of Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Hall keeping the provost and house tutors inside demanding immediate publication of seat allotment list.

Around 50 students put the hall gate under lock and key around 10:00am and were staging a sit-in in front of the gate.

Ashrafi Nitu, a sophomore student of physics department who was attached with hall, said the construction work of Sheikh Hasina Hall was completed long ago.

“As we are badly suffering due to the accommodation crisis, we staged demonstration several times for the seat allotment,” she said.

“Finally, the authorities took our viva on September 15 for the allotment…but they did not publish the result even after one month, forcing us to go for the demonstration,” she added.

Contacted, Hall Provost Prof Mohammad Helal Uddin said they were working to publish the merit list for seat allotment.

The process has been delayed as they have limited manpower in the hall, the provost said.

The Chittagong University has four halls for its female students at present.
