Gulshan cafe attackers’ ‘trainer’ Rashed remanded
A Dhaka court today placed key “Neo JMB” militant Aslam Hossain Rashed alias Rash, “arms trainer” of the Gulshan café attackers, on a five-day remand in connection with a case filed over the Kalyanpur raid.
Metropolitan Magistrate Raihan Ul Islam passed the order after he was produced in the court and sought into remand.
Md Jahangir Alam, an inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) and the investigation officer (IO) of the case, sought him in 10-day remand.

In the remand prayer, the IO said Rashed had met the militants, who were killed during the Kalyanpur raid on July 26 last year. He was also aware of the raid. So he needs to be remanded to find out vital clues about the raid, the IO said.

An operation called ‘Storm 26’ was carried out in the 6-storey building, locally known as Jahaz Bari in Kalyanpur area around 5:45am on July 26 last year. A total of nine suspected militants were killed in the gunshots of law enforcers.
Earlier on August 10, Rahsed confessed to a magistrate that he had coordinated the arms training of the Gulshan attackers before carrying out the Holey Artisan Bakery attack on July 1 last year.
Rashed, 20, a close aide to Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury, the chief coordinator of “Neo JMB” was arrested in Natore on July 28.
CTTC has so far arrested six other accused in connection with the case filed over the Kalyanpur raid.
They are Md Salahuddin Kamran, Md Rafiqul Hasan alias Regan, Mufti Maolana Abul Kashem, Jahirul Islam alias Jashim, Abdur Rauf Prodhan and Sohel Mahfuz. Of them, Salahuddin, Regan and Abdur Rauf gave confessional statements before magistrates on different dates.
