India has announced that it would accept only valid Machine Readable Passports (MRP) for visa from September 1.

Indian High Commission to Bangladesh in a press release today said it would not issue any visa on handwritten passports.

“In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization guidelines regarding discontinuation of hand written passports, applicants for Indian Visa are advised that with effect from September 01, 2015 Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) all across Bangladesh being run by the State Bank of India will accept only valid Machine Readable Passports issued by the Government of Bangladesh,” it said.
