Missing SUST student found dead

Family claims murder, reason unknown to police

A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) was found dead in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet today, a day into he went missing.

The body of Mostahin Razzak Mamun, 24, a student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department of 11th batch, was spotted by locals in a ditch beside rail tracks in Maijgaon area.

The body was recovered around 12:00pm, our local correspondent reports quoting Zahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Sylhet GRP Police Station.

“We primarily suspect his body was dumped after murder,” he said.

Mamun’s father Abdur Razzak is a physician at MAG Osmani Medical College and his mother Hosnae Ara Begum is a gynecologist at Companiganj Upazila Health Complex in Sylhet.

Mamun used to live with his family at Sylhet Medical Colony.

Mamun’s relatives said that he went out of his house on Tuesday saying that he was going to the university but did not return. Mamun’s father Dr Abdur Razzak claimed that his son has been killed.

Police are yet to ascertain if it was a murder case and they are interrogating the people, who spotted the body, said Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge of Fenchuganj Police Station.
