Mymensingh blast: Another KUET student succumbs

Another student of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), who suffered burn injuries as a gas line exploded in a building in Mymensingh on Sunday, succumbed last night.

Shaheen Mia, 24, of Sirajganj, died at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 11:30pm, Dr Partha Shankar Paul, a resident surgeon at the burn unit of DMCH, told The Daily Star.

He suffered 83 percent burn injuries in the incident, the doctor added.

On March 25, another KUET student Towhidul Islam, 24, of Bogra, died and three others including Shaheen were injured when the newly connected gas line blasted in a building in the district’sBhalukaupazila.

The two other injured are Hafizur Rahman, 25, of Naogaon, and DiptoSarker, 24, of Magura.  They are undergoing treatment at DMCH.

The four students on March 10 rented the flat on the third floor of six-storey AS Tower in Square Masterbari area for doing their internships at Square Fashions Ltd.
