204 ‘extrajudicial killings’ in 6 months: ASK

At least 204 people fell victim to “extrajudicial killings” by law enforcement agencies across the country in the last six months, Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) said today.

“Of the victims, 59 were killed in crossfire with Rab, 92 were killed in crossfire with police while 12 with DB, one with joint forces, one with Coast Guard, 28 with BGB,” according to a report of ASK.

The findings were prepared based on the reports of top national newspapers in last six months from January.

“Two of them were killed due to police torture while two in police firing, three in BGB firing, and one committed suicide in police custody. Besides, two bullet-hit bodies were recovered and another died from illness in Rab custody,” the ASK report on the human rights situation in the country read.

630 women raped, 37 killed after rape

According to the report, at least 630 women were raped and 37 were killed after rape. Besides, seven victims committed suicide after being raped.

Around 105 attempts of rape were also reported during the time.

127 victims of sexual harassment

Al least 127 women were victim of sexual harassment in the time period. Among the victims, eight committed suicide, the ASK report said.

Besides, three women and two men were killed while protesting sexual harassment.

At least 895 children were murdered or subjected to torture during this time. Among the victims, 104 were murdered, 40 committed suicide and 41 died in mysterious circumstances, the report added. 

The number of child murder and torture in the country is dangerous, the report said.
