Father ‘kills’ infant in Panchagarh
‘Injures’ wife and other two daughters
A man today allegedly killed his six-month-old infant daughter and injured his wife and other two daughters in Sadar upazila of Panchagarh.
Nazmul, 40, went into hiding after the incident, his father-in-law Rashidul Islam, told our Thakurgaon correspondent.
Six-month-old Ratna, her mother Rashida Begum, 30, and her elder sisters Nazira Begum, 10, and Ria Moni, 5, were found lying on the ground, Aynul Haque, a member of Purba Joydharbhanga union, said quoting locals.
They were rushed to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Ratna dead, Aynul said.
The three others were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with critical injuries, he added.
Nazmul’s father-in-law Rashidul Islam told reporters that Rashida and Nazmul were married for about 11-12 years ago.
After the marriage, the couple was engaged in family feud frequently and Nazmul used to torture her daughter Rashida, said Aynul.
This morning, Nazmul stabbed Rashida, Nazira and Ria Moni indiscriminately and killed Ratna by dropping her down to the ground violently, Rashidul alleged.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Naimul Hasan said, “We are investigating into the incident and conducting a drive to detain Nazmul”.
