'Robber' killed in 'gunfight' with police

A suspected robber was killed in a “gunfight” with police at Bajitpur upazila in Kishoreganj yesterday.

The dead is Arshaf Uddin, 30, of the district's Bhairab upazila. He was accused in multiple robbery cases.

Shariful Islam, additional superintendent of police in Kishoreganj, said one of their teams raided Bajitpur's Ujanchar Beelpar area around 2:30am on information that a drug dealing was taking place there.

"Our team came under fire as soon as it reached the spot," he said, adding, "Arshaf was killed during a 'gunfight' that followed."

Police claimed to have recovered a shotgun, 100 yaba tablets, 15 bottles of Phensedyl and five bullets from the spot.
