Besides, a project worth of Tk 58.7 crore will be implemented for 5,41,000 farmers in remote areas, the minister said at her secretariat office in Dhaka.

Matia Chowdhury also informed that 6.23 lakh people were affected in the recent floods and heavy rains in the northern districts.

Production of rice has been decreased by 10 lakh tonnes due to the natural calamity, she added.

Each farmer in the flood affected areas will get five kilogrammes of seeds of different food grains, she said.
