Bhabna’s poetic film is a tribute to language martyrs

Ashna Habib Bhabna grew up as a dancer, and apart from all of her multifaceted qualities she loves being called a dancer first. The artiste has showed her excellence not only in acting, but as an artist and a writer as well.

Commemorating International Mother Language and Language Martyr's Day, (February 21), UNESCO Dhaka Office paid tribute to all the Language Martyrs, upon releasing a poetic video. Titled as 'The Spirit of Rebel', the initiative is a tribute to the Language Movement Martyrs of 1952.

The poetic film features Bhabna reciting Kazi Nazrul Islam's "Bidrohi", Maya Angelou's "Still I Rise" complementing them with her dance performance in a rebellious manner, in the dark toned theme of rising out of ashes and winning the world. Her performance was accompanied by Samiul Islam Pulock's recitation of the poems of great poets and few warm up lines from Asmi Pradeep as well.

Presented by Shwapnil Foundation Presentation, the project is Shwapnil Shojib's concept which has been visually directed by Rony Sarafat.

The film concludes with showcasing one of Bhabna's painting. The art represents a woman who is the symbol of giving new life.
