Ferdous has a big heart, I am proud to be his friend: Purnima

Ferdous won the hearts of both Bangladesh and India with his charismatic performances and charming personae. From "Hotath Bristi" to "The Beauty Circus", he made his mark through diverse characters and endearing performances.

Purnima and Ferdous first worked together in "Modhu Purnima" in 1998. Although the pair didn't work in many movies together, they have a strong friendship which is beautifully put on display in their films. Today is Ferdous' birthday and his dear friend Purnima spoke to The Daily Star about their amazing friendship.

While shooting for our first film; we grew very close and we became almost like a family. Our bond is so strong that whenever we call each other, we always inquire about each other's family. Our friendship is so deep that I would start chatting to bhabhi when I was on the phone with him.

We haven't worked in many movies together, but the bond that we created on the set of "Modhu Purnima" cemented our friendship. Over time, by working with him, I realised that he is a gem of a person.

Soon afterwards, we became busy with shooting, Ferdous started getting lots of offers in Kolkata as his movie "Hothat Bristi" was released and it received a very positive response. I felt really proud as a friend I was scheduled to travel to Kolkata at the time, and he asked me to carry the audio cassette of "Hothat Bristi" with me, because audio cassettes were popular at the time.  

As soon as I landed in Kolkata, I brought three cassettes of "Hothat Bristi", two for him and one for me. He was really happy with the gift and I was really pleased seeing him smile while listening to songs on a loop, so much so that I memorised it.

Despite the fact that we didn't work on many films together, our friendship remained strong. We've worked on stage, TV, and even hosted a few shows together over the last six years. More than just movies, we've collaborated as hosts, which our audiences adored. We try to stay in touch with each other wherever we travel.

Throughout our long friendship, I have realised he is a genuine person who doesn't have any trait of negativity within him. He is a man with a wonderful personality and he is a great friend. He is not a complicated person and doesn't even get himself involved in any sorts of controversy. He has never hurt anyone.

Many artistes do a lot of things to get work, but he doesn't do anything to belittle or exclude anyone from films. He always things positively and is a great human being. Ferdous has a big heart and I am grateful to have him as a friend. Lots of wonderful wishes to you my dear friend, Ferdous.
