If Hindi films are released, we will burn down theatres: Jhantu

Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Pathaan" is set to hit theaters in Bangladesh on May 5.

After the success of a few domestically produced films this Eid, some directors and actors have demanded that the release of "Pathaan" be postponed.

A press conference was held on Sunday to postpone the release of the film "Pathaan". According to them, the films released on the occasion of Eid are getting a good response. If foreign films are released at such a time, Bengali films will suffer a financial loss.

Veteran filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhantu has strongly opposed the release of Hindi films in Bangladesh since the start. He was also present at the press conference.

"What a shame! Now we have to request that Bengali films be run instead of Hindi-Urdu films in the country of Bangabandhu," said Jhantu.

"If any Hindi/Urdu film releases in this country, then we will go for precession. If the situation demands, we will burn down the theatres," he added.

At the press conference, directors Saikat Nasir, Saif Chandan, Topu Khan, Md Iqbal, and Abu Tauhid Heron were present.
