Noted actor Fazlur Rahman Babu has been an invaluable part of Bangladesh's already glittering silver screen. Be it films, music, or television dramas, the actor has constantly presented himself to the audience in a new light, through his performances.

Recently, Fazlur Rahman Babu captured the National Film Award in the 'Best Supporting Actor' category for his performance in "Nonajoler Kabbo". This is the sixth time he has captured the award, which is a big record in the industry.

In a conversation with The Daily Star, Fazlur Rahman Babu shared his feelings about the momentous occasion and his recent ventures.

This is the sixth time you have received the prestigious National Film Award. How are you feeling?

As a cultural activist, actor, and artiste, I wanted to be a performer all my life. I wanted to get people's love. Now that I have received this award for the sixth time, I am feeling very happy.

Does winning such an award come with a lot of responsibilities?

Since the beginning of my career, I have acted with responsibility towards my audience. I will continue to do the same in the future. However, every award increases your responsibility as an artiste. The National Film Award is the biggest award for any film artiste. Apart from this, awards can really boost one's confidence and gives them inspiration.

Over the course of your long artistic career, what has been your core philosophy?

I always wanted to work with honesty and dedication. I never deviated from this philosophy. If you don't have honesty, dedication, and love for what you do, you can never succeed in life. I always wanted to associate myself with good work that aligns with the culture of our country.

How does the artistic way of thinking influence the mentality of an artiste?

If it were possible to sow artistic and literary thought in every person's mind, then life would be very beautiful, easy, and simple. The way of living with art is really beautiful. A good movie, a good drama, a good song, and a good book can change people's lives tremendously.

What are your recent ventures?

Currently, I am shooting a one-hour Eid drama, "Kak Jochona", which is being directed by Salahuddin Lavlu. The drama has been written by Mamunur Rashid.
