May all films do well this Eid: Nirab

Nirab Hossain started his journey as a popular model. His debut film, "Mon Jekhane Hridoy Shekhane", was directed by Shaheen Sumon. Since then, the actor has been featured in many projects, including "Eito Valobasha" (2013), "Banglasia" (2015), "Islamic Exorcist" (2017), "Game" (2015), and "Omanush" (2022) among many others.

Currently, Nirab is waiting for his upcoming film "Phire Dekha" which hit theatres yesterday.  Moreover, the actor will also greet the fans on the silver screen this coming Eid-ul-Azha with Saikat Nasir's "Casino".

How are you feeling about the release of your film "Phire Dekha"?
I have a lot of expectations riding on it. "Phire Dekha" is a government-grant film directed by renowned actor Rozina.
From my experience in the current film industry, we usually do not have the resources and funds to make 'big canvas' films, like we did in this instance.

Your film with Bubly, "Casino", is expected to hit theatres this Eid-ul-Azha. Tell us a bit about it.
I play the role of a police investigator in "Casino". The film gives the audience a gist of what kind of illegal activities happen behind the doors of a Casino in Bangladesh. The project promotes themes including ones of a utopian crime free society and the fight against corruption.

Do you feel any pressure as Shakib Khan starrer "Priyotoma" is also releasing this Eid?
Not exactly. I do feel that we are releasing many good films this Eid as well. Moreover, Shakib bhai is Shakib bhai, a superstar. However, I believe that "Casino" will do fine on this Eid as well. To me, Eid is like a festival of films; the audience will have the choice to watch whichever film they want. I don't think that there is any pressure or competition. It all depends on the production—if your film is good, then the results will be good.
How is Bubly as a co-actor?
She is an amazing actor, very dedicated to her craft. She is very co-operative too. I have worked with Bubly on two projects, one of them is "Chokh". which has already been released, and the other is "Koyla" which is awaiting release.
You previously talked about funding problems for 'big canvas' films. Can you shed some light on what are the huddles for such films are in the industry?
While not having enough budgets is a common enough huddle our industry, it is the reality. You see, before a producer decides to invest in a film, he will surely conduct market research on the film's probable return. And, producers would invest money based on the research and how much they might earn. This is why many amazing stories don't get a proper budget. To improve this situation, we need to change the state of our cinema halls.
I mean, we go to the theatres for entertainment, so the atmosphere there has to be top-notch. Otherwise, why would I pay for it if the state of the theatre is worse than my home?

The OTT platforms have been on the rise in current times. Do you have any plans for OTT?
No, don't have any plans for OTT projects right now. I already have my hands full with many films which are awaiting release, including "Koyla", "Sposho", and "Roudro Chaya", amongst others. Many of these productions have completed their shooting.
