'My mother will be cooking my favourite hilsha fish curry'

Today marks the birthday of National Award and Filmfare Award (India) winner Jaya Ahsan. To find out what she would be doing for her special day, we caught up with the noted actress over the phone.

Jaya will be spending the day in Dhaka with her family and friends. "I have been getting birthday wishes and surprises since last night," shared the actress, adding "My family and friends had arranged a small surprise party at midnight with a cake, balloons and what not."

The actress' WhatsApp has been flooded with birthday wishes from her loved ones both from home and abroad. "I am overwhelmed by everyone's wishes! Thank you so much for all your love and affection," she said.

Alongside her fans from Bangladesh, the actress also received warm wishes from her colleagues, friends and fans in India. 

"My mother will be cooking my favourite hilsha curry today. She arranged for the fish to be brought all the way from the banks of the Meghna River," said an excited Jaya. "We are also planning to go out in the evening to have some fun as a family."

On her birthday, Jaya only wishes to keep up her momentum and wants everyone around her to stay happy and healthy. 

Jaya's film "Jhora Palok" was recently released in Kolkata. "Being based on the life and works of Jibanananda Das, this film has a special sentiment value for many," said the actress. Jaya Ahsan plays the character of Laboni, Jibanananda Das' wife, in the production. 

The actress is currently awaiting multiple releases of her projects in both India and Bangladesh.
