Water level increases in 61 rivers, falls in 41: FFWC

Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) has monitored the water level of the country's rivers at 109 river stations and recorded a rise in level at 61 stations while a fall in 41 others.

The water level at seven river stations has been registered steady, while at eight stations water is flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said today (July 1, 2022).

The Dharla at Kurigram, the Brahmaputra at Hatia, the Surma at Kanaighat, the Kushiyara at Amalshid and Sheola, the Old Surma at Derai, the Baulai at Khaliajuri and the Someswari at Kalmakanda are flowing above the danger level by 6cm, 21cm, 64cm, 84cm, 32cm, 17cm, 3cm and 38cm respectively.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts in 24 hours till 9:00 am today, the bulletin added.

A total of 122mm of rainfall was recorded at Jariajanjail and 53mm in Sylhet's Lalakhal.

Significant rainfall was recorded during the last 24 hours in Sikkim, Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura regions of North-East India, the bulletin added.

A total of 41mm of rainfall was recorded at Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, 109mm at Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, and 98 mm at Dibrugarh in Assam.
