Power price hiked by 5pc again

The government today increased the electricity price once again by 5 percent at the retail level.

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources issued a circular in this regard tonight.

The government increased the electricity price three times since January this year.

The new price will be effective from tomorrow, the ministry's Deputy Chief Information Officer Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin told The Daily Star.

The average price of electricity will be Tk 8.21 per kilowatt hour, up from Tk 7.82 kWh, the official added.
