Contractor blacklisted for cutting trees on road dividers in Mirpur

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has blacklisted SM Rahman International, the contractor concerned, for cutting down trees during the construction of the road divider at the Technical Crossing in Mirpur in the capital.

Besides, two deputy assistant engineers of the DNCC in charge of related work have been suspended for negligence of duty and disobedience of authority's orders.

Three separate office orders, signed by DNCC Secretary Mohammad Mamun-ul-Hasan, have been issued in this regard this afternoon.

According to the order, SM Rahman International has been declared ineligible to participate in all types of tender process of the DNCC for the next one year due to violation of work conditions by cutting trees without permission.

Besides, the work order given to the contractor has also been cancelled.

Md Suja Uddin Mamun, deputy assistant engineer of Traffic Engineering Circle and Md Suruzzaman, deputy assistant engineer, have been temporarily suspended for neglecting their duties and disobeying the authority's order.

It is noted that a new footover bridge is being constructed at the technical crossing (main road) in Mirpur under the road safety project along with the development of traffic infrastructure in the DNCC area. Construction of road dividers is underway on three sides of the technical intersection included with the said work.
