Sundarbans has 114 tigers at present: Environment Minister

According to the latest survey, there are 114 tigers in the Sundarbans, Shahab Uddin, environment, forests and climate change minister, told the parliament today.

The minister said this in reply to a query from Awami League MP Didarul Alam, during a question-answer session in today's parliament sitting.

In the scripted answer, the environment minister said 106 tigers were found in the Sundarbans in 2015 by using camera trapping.

According to the latest survey which was done in 2018, there are 114 tigers in the forest.

Besides, there are between one and one and a half lakh deer, 165-200 crocodiles and 40-50 thousand monkeys in the Sundarbans, the minister also said.
