The ongoing mild cold wave sweeping across the country will continue for the next one week, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Day and night temperatures will remain nearly unchanged during this time.

Meanwhile northern districts under Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions will experience heavy fog for most of the time in the next three to five days.

"There is a possibility of a mild cold wave until January 8. There will be no change in the temperature during this period. At the same time, the sky in different regions will be partially cloudy. But there is no possibility of rainfall," he said.

Mostafa Kamal Palash, meteorological and climate related researcher at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, told The Daily Star that a thick fog is moving from northwest to southeast towards West Bengal and Bangladesh, which will affect Bangladesh through Kushtia and Jhenaidah districts later this evening.

Following this, the dense fog is likely to cover the districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions till noon tomorrow. The same situation is likely to affect the country including Dhaka division on Wednesday morning.
