Rainfall may increase in next 3 days

Maritime ports asked to hoist local cautionary signal 3 due to low pressure over Bay

More rains are likely to drench Bangladesh in 24 hours commencing 9am today (September 19, 2022), said the weather department.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely at many places over Khulna division and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country," said a Met Office bulletin.

Rainfall activity may increase in next three days, it said.

The weather office recorded the highest 41 mm rainfall in Chattogram in 24 hours till 6am today.

Both the highest and the lowest temperatures were recorded in Sreemangal of Sylhet division at 35.3 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees, respectively.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area has formed over North Bay and adjoining area now lies over Northwest Bay and adjoining area.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal 3 as a low-pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

They were also advised not to venture into the deep sea during the period.
