A total of 300 children aged between 5 and 11 years have received Covid-19 vaccine shots under the "symbolic vaccination programme" in Chattogram city today (August 24, 2022).

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the programme at Chattogram Municipal Government Primary School in the morning, reports our staff correspondent.

The full-fledged Covid-19 vaccination drive is scheduled to begin throughout the country tomorrow (August 25, 2022).

5 to 11 year olds get first shot of Covid-19 vaccine

Jaharlal Hazari, CCC Standing Committee Chairman for Health Affairs, also councillor of ward-32, told The Daily Star that today's programme was "symbolic" as the formal vaccination programme will begin in the country tomorrow.

Hazari said a total of 400,000 children between five and 11 years of age will be vaccinated in the port city under the programme.
