The High Court today granted bail to an accused, Parvez Hasan, in a case filed over the killing of 26 Bangladeshis in Libya on May 28.

The bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order following a petition filed by Parvez, a man from Narsingdi, seeking bail in the case.

The HC granted bail to Parvez as there is no specific allegation against him of human trafficking and killing, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Dr Md Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star.

The DAG, however, said the government will move an appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the HC order.

He added that several cases were filed on charges of human trafficking after 26 Bangladeshi nationals were killed in Libya on May 28.

Police have shown Parvez arrested on August 4 in one of the cases filed with Paltan Police Station in Dhaka on June 2.
