Exclusive poster of film Pritilata released: Biplob Saha as art director

The task of retelling the life story of Pritilata Waddedar through cinema has been taken up by UFORC productions, under the apt direction of Rashid Palash and scripted by noted lyricist Golam Rabbani; the character, Pritilata is said to be featured by prominent actor Pori Moni. 

The poster of the ambitious film project, had been released a day before Eid ul Azha 2021 and the mastermind behind the poster preparations had been none other than the famed designer Biplob Saha. 
"I was little bit skeptical at the beginning, when approached by the Executive Producer of the movie, Ronju Chowdhury. But since Ronju is a long-time friend, I finally agreed to work on the project. It was a huge task for me to change the facial features of the dazzling Pori Moni into Pritilata, who may have been a little less glamorous but with more valiant facial features. Her simplicity and yet the sparkling of the eyes, the unique and brave expressions needed to be captured. And Pori did it quite well," revealed Saha.

Armed with only one single solo-picture of the revolutionary, Saha had to recreate the look on the glamorous actor. "It was definitely a thrill to work with such an extraordinary character. I enjoyed thoroughly doing all the research work behind the costume, the ornaments and the facial expressions. And hence with the perfect team collaboration, we were able to bring alive Pritilata once again and that too in an extremely short span of time."

Pritilata Waddedar, a name far too relevant for Bengal and today's independent Bangladesh and yet not celebrated as much as her contributions demand. A brave revolutionary-nationalist of the early 20th century, she fought against the British colonialist regime with might and courage. Her companions included famous names such as Masterda Surya Sen and Binod Bihari Chowdhury. Involved in many covert operations against the tyrant regime, Pritilata chose to die by her own hands, poisoning herself with potassium cyanide at the prime age of 21, refusing to be captured and killed in the hands of the enemy forces.
The production works of the movie, Pritilata has been stalled for the moment with a hopeful continuation after the COVID restrictions are uplifted. The probable release date is sometime next year.
