Military commander of “Neo JMB” Murad alias Jahangir Alam alias Omar, who was killed during a raid in Dhaka's Mirpur area last night, was hit by nine bullets, autopsy revealed today.

“Three bullets hit in the head and six in other parts of the body,” Dr Sohel Mahmud, assistant professor at forensic and medicine department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, told journalists.

Samples of blood, hairs, muscles and urine were also collected from his body for DNA test, he said.

Fingerprints collected

Earlier, fingerprints of the militant killed in the raid last night have been collected to determine his identity.

The fingerprints will be matched with the Election Commission’s database to confirm his real name and identity, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told journalists.

Murad rented the Mirpur house identifying him as Jahangir and also providing false permanent address, the DC said.

“Murad was the military commander of Neo JMB and he trained the Gulshan and Sholakia attackers,” Monirul Islam, chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP, said yesterday.

Murad used to frequent the militant hideout at Paikpara in Narayanganj where “Neo JMB” coordinator Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury had been staying.

Tamim along with his associates Tousif Hossain and Fazle Rabbi were killed during a raid at the hideout on August 27.
