A court in Delhi today (July 2, 2022) rejected the bail plea of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair and sent him to 14-day judicial custody.

Zubair moved the petition five days after he was arrested on the charge of hurting religious sentiments.

Media reports said Delhi Police have added fresh charges of criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and violation of Foreign Currency Violation Act against Zubair, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

The Delhi Police, which arrested Zubair on June 27, today produced him before the trial court and sought 14-day judicial custody for him.

Zubair was arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through one of his tweets.

He was taken to his house in Bengaluru a few days ago and his laptop was seized from there by the Delhi Police.
