2 dead as truck rams into another truck parked in Shyamoli

A driver and a helper died after a truck hit another truck parked on the road in Dhaka's Shyamoli area early today.

The deceased were identified as Md Roni, helper of the truck, which was parked on the road; and Raju Ahmed, driver of the truck that hit the other vehicle, police said.

Rakibul Alam, a sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station said as a tyre of the truck got punctured in Shyamoli area, its driver Hasan and helper Roni got down to fix it, parking the vehicle on the road.

A good-laden truck driven by Raju then hit the parked truck around 5:00am.

Raju was declared dead at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital while Roni breathed his last around 8:00am at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the SI said.

Hasan is receiving treatment at The National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation with critical injuries.

Police seized both the trucks.
