Fire, explosion at Ctg depot: Fire service hamstrung by water shortage

Fire service personnel moved to a safe place to avoid accidents after water shortage disrupted firefighting work at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.

Firefighting operations were disrupted as water ran out around 4am today, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

Multiple explosions occurred inside the depot at one point, forcing the fire fighters to move to a safe location.

Earlier, trucks stuck inside the depot went over the fire service's water hoses. It wasted a significant amount of water.

Since then, firefighters have been dealing with a water shortage.

Fire was put out in most parts of the depot around 6am, but there were still fires in some areas.
