Passenger train derails in Chattogram

A passenger train derailed while changing its line at Bhatiari station in Chattogram this morning.

A compartment of Mymensingh-bound Bijoy Express derailed around 9:40am, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

An official of the railway transport department said the train derailed while crossing the station. "We have another alternative line, which is now operational. Meanwhile, the Karnaphuli Express has already started for Dhaka using that line," he said.

Additional Divisional Transport Officer Moniruzzaman said there was no immediate report of any casualty in the accident. Work has begun to lift the derailed train, he added.
