The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has given four directives to avoid possible crop damage during the impending Cyclone Mocha.

The well-marked low over the Bay of Bengal gathered strength and intensified into a depression and it could turn into a cyclone by May 12 or 13, according to a press release of DAE yesterday.

There is a possibility that the cyclone will damage crops, the release said.

To avoid damage, the DAE asked farmers to harvest 80 percent of ripe paddy , mature mango and other crops.

It also asked the authorities concerned to take measures for a massive campaign in the field to inform farmers about the cyclone warning; to be with the farmers to advise them through staying at workplace during the time of cyclone and for any weather information and advice, follow the BAMIS portal (www.bamis.gov.bd).
