13-yr-old found dead in classroom after father received ransom call

The body of a 13-year-old boy was found in one of the classrooms of his school in Khulna's Dumuria upazila early today.

The body of Nirob Mondol was found in Gutudia ACGB Secondary School, our Khulna correspondent reports quoting Sheikh Koni Mia, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station.

Six children, aged between 12 to 15 years, were also taken to the police station for questioning, the OC added.

Quoting family members, former president of Gutudia ACGB Secondary School, Mustafa Sarwar, told The Daily Star that Nirob went to Gutudia ACGB Secondary School yesterday afternoon for the second shift of classes.

Later, around 4:00pm his father received phone calls from two separate numbers demanding Tk 30 lakh ransom. He immediately informed the Dumuria Police Station and also registered a general diary.

The numbers were found switched off soon afterwards.
