AL leader stabbed dead in Bogura

A municipality Awami League leader was stabbed to death in Bogura's Sherpur upazila town this evening (September 28, 2022).

The deceased was identified as Murtoza Kawsar Avi (32), resident of the Khandakar para area of the Sherpur upazila town.

Avi was an AL leader of the Sherpur Municipality proposed committee.

Previously he was a ward-level Jubo league leader, said Golam Hossain, secretary of the Sherpur municipality AL unit.

Quoting locals, Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station said, "Avi went to a motor vehicle service centre around 6:30 pm today to wash his bike. At that time, around five to six men came with sharp weapons and chased him. He was left severely injured.

"Locals sent him to Bogura Ziaur Rahman Medical College where doctors pronounced him dead," the OC said.

 "We are yet to find the motive but we have already identified five to six attackers. The previous enmity is likely the reason behind the killing," added the OC.

A case is going to be filed and the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, the official added.
