The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today told the High Court that it is conducting an inquiry into allegations against Dhaka Wasa Managing Director Taqsem A Khan and some of its employees.

Allegations of various irregularities including "corruption and looting of crores of taka in the name of projects and illegal recruitment business" have been brought against them.

"Documents and information regarding the allegations of irregularities of five to six projects under Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority [Wasa] are in the process of being collected; and we are in the process of running an inquiry into the allegations by analysing the information, and work is going on to submit a report in this regard," said ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan.

"Papers of different bank accounts of Dhaka Wasa MD Taqsem have been collected and analysed," ACC's lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told the HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat Lizu during the hearing the writ challenging the legality of Taqsem's appointment.

On December 4, Supreme Court lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Suman submitted a petition, saying Taqsem was appointed as MD through forgery as the marksheet of his viva voce for recruitment was tampered with.

Today, the HC bench disposed of the writ petition as another bench of this court had earlier issued a rule on similar issues and the rule is still pending there.

During today's hearing Taqsem's lawyer AM Masum vehemently opposed the writ petition saying his client has been appointed MD of Dhaka Wasa by following and maintaining all relevant procedures and rules and there is no forgery in his appointment process.
